The DOMINO project in Riehen transforms the former Dominikushaus care home, built in the 1960s, into a sustainable residential complex of three houses designed by Salathé Architekten for the Wohnstadt housing cooperative. The upcycling concept enhances the existing structure and numerous building components, offering 39 modernised homes ranging from studios to lofts and townhouses, with common areas, gardens and bicycle parking. On the former Settelen site in Basel, in the Iselin district, a new residential quarter is taking shape, combining historic and contemporary architecture around two inner courtyards. A first phase, the "Gartenhof", provides three four-storey buildings with apartments of 1.5 to 4.5 rooms as well as a few studios, while the historic "Kuppelhof", a listed monument, will be preserved. The project, designed by the firm Diener & Diener, began construction in January 2026.
